Our best selling iconic Vintage Cardigan was the very first design we made at Olivier London. The rose stitch design was inspired by vintage knits from our childhood. Made from a thicker 6 ply cashmere this luxurious cardigan is the epitome of style. Made to be passed down from generation to generation. New for this season, Celeste is a light blue colour inspired by the sky. It is based on the Italian word celeste, meaning heavenly.
Made from 100% cashmere.
A little bit about our Cashmere
Our Cashmere is produced in Scotland using methods that have been passed down from generation to generation. As comfortable to wear on a summers afternoon as it is on a cold winter’s day.
Using traditional techniques that have been refined over centuries our cashmere pills less than any other. Made to last and be passed down from one generation to the next.
Our cashmere story starts with hardy mountain dwelling goats that have adapted to live in the harsh environments and extreme temperatures of the Gobi Desert.
To survive, the goats develop wonderfully thick coats made up of a coarse outer guard hair and a fine, soft undercoat. Our cashmere comes from only the finest downy undercoat. This yields a tiny amount: it takes fibre from one goat to knit a scarf, three to make a sweater!
Traditionally, farmers would collect cashmere fibre by ceremonially combing their goats in the spring. Combing is still widely used today, alongside some farmers who prefer shearing. Our cashmere is sourced from sustainable herding and grazing practices, that promote high standards of animal welfare, and work to protect this traditional way of life within nomadic communities.
